Grey Boys’ Primary School has a rich history dating back over 160 years. Its roots can be traced to 1856 when Sir George Grey, Governor of the Cape Colony, approved an Act of Parliament to establish the Grey Institute. The school, comprising then of an elementary and a high school section, opened its doors in 1859 with just 40 students in a building situated on the Donkin Reserve in Port Elizabeth.
