Founders Lodge

Founders Lodge by Mantis is a luxury boutique safari lodge situated on a private game reserve in South Africa's malaria-free Eastern Cape. With just seven suites, the lodge delivers a highly personalised safari experience combining privacy, exceptional wildlife encounters, and one of the most important conservation legacies in Southern Africa.

Guests enjoy twice-daily Big Five game drives with traversing access into the adjacent Shamwari Private Game Reserve. The lodge features two traditional suites in the original colonial manor, four modern courtyard suites, and the unique Founders Railway Carriage — a converted luxury wagon. Common areas include two lounges, a library, two swimming pools, a gym, steam room, and a bar with a classic full-sized billiards table.
